Set condition 1SQ. The use of the nuclear option has been authorized.

Even before President Bush announced the nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States, the Dem leadership stated its intention to fight.

Talking about an Alito nomination, Senate Minority Leader Henry Reid said, "I think it would create a lot of problems." Well, any nomination by Bush was going to create a problem, unless it was a liberal like Lawrence Tribe.

Mr. Reid has already threatened to use a filibuster to block this nomination. "We are going to do everything we can" to see that the president names "somebody that's really good," Mr. Reid said.

Before 2001, there had never been a filibuster of a judicial nominee (and that includes what happened after Lyndon Johnson nominated Associate Justice Abe Fortas…a bipartisan group of senators announced their opposition and a filibuster was threatened, but no debate was ever held and no cloture votes were ever taken). Before 2001, senators never explicitly opposed a judicial nominee because of his or her politics.

The Dems have changed the rules without any votes; without any debate. The time has come to restore the rules to their pre-2001 state. The Republican leadership has warned that they will use parliamentary procedure to undo the damage the Dems have done. The Dems have threatened to retaliate by using senate procedures to block all future business in the chamber. This impasse has been nicknamed “the nuclear option.”

Well, to quote Ellen Ripley from ALIENS; “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”

Actually, the command is Set condition 1SQ. The use of nuclear weapons has been authorized, not ...use of the nuclear option...

Of course he got it wrong! What else can you expect from a conservative "chicken hawk?" The full extent of his military training was watching "Crimson Tide."

He also got the Aliens quote wrong, well, the quote is right, but mis-attributed, Ripley didn't say it.

Now now people. I can play with quotes all I want. I intentionally toyed with the Crimson Tide quote. And Ripley DID state that line...and Corporal Hicks paraphrased it a few seconds later.

And, since I am currently serving as a Major in the State Guard, I don't think you can call me a "chickenhawk."

Uhm... Funny thing, but I don't know very many liberals in military service (and I know a *lot* of servicemen and women.) Liberals tend to be pro-socialism, pro-pacifism, and anti-gun... Not ideals that work very well when doing the rough dirty work of defending this Republic from her enemies. So if you're going to call anyone a chicken-hawk, maybe it should be your liberal buddies who've never served a day in their lives but think they are qualified to make policy on how the military should conduct a war. Especially since these people are the ones who empathize with tyrants and dictators... The people who are glad that Syria is the head of the U.N. Human Rights Council... The people who believe the ENEMY when they report that our soldiers are killing civillians, when those supposed civillians are more likely to be irregular combatants in non-military clothing who had just set off an IED just moments before. The same people who are screaming that our military doesn't know how to properly execute a war and hamstringing our troops ability to defend themselves properly by making them afraid to shoot the enemy for fear they are going to come home to a courts-martial for doing exactly what they're sword to do. People like John Kerry who claim to understand the military yet whose service record is CONSIDERABLY shakier than Bush's, and his support of his own military is... Non-existant. He comes home from Vietnam and proceeds to blast the military he had just served with and then over his years of political service has consistantly voted against every defense and intelligence appropriation that ever came across his desk. The very same people who wanted to draft an 18th, 19th and umpteenth U.N. resolution to Iraq. The same people who think the U.N. serves any real purpose outside of being an international country club for tyrants and despots.

No, my friend, you need to pull your head out of your ass. "Conservative" and "chicken-hawk" are much less likely bedfellows than "Liberal" and "corner-hiding, pillow-biting, skullduggering, motherless son of a syphilitic ass-monkey."

You are a war monger! No better then the people you are fighting. The purpose of war is to perpetuate war. When will you ever learn.

Americans have bombed countries since I can remember and then they get bent out of shape when the smallest of attacks happen to them.

USA is the bully of the world and violence by them is always "acceptable" in their own media - propaganda in its finest form!!

When was the last time USA attacked a country that could attack it back?
If USA did not bomb Laos, Cambodia, Libya, N Korea, Afganistan, Panana and suppport of Murderous Israel(enough said)then 9/11 would never have happened. Your so called enemies that you protect yourself from are the ones you created.

Your american freedom and civil liberties are a facade you are the new facists

Talking about liberal chicken hawks, you repub need to improve your memories, eat some carrots.
Remember Dickie Cheney, yeah, that Dickie Cheney, he sure had a lot of military experience didn't he.
Remember John Kerry who went to Vietnam and got shot at while George got stinking drunk in the bars in Mexico. Remember what Dickie said when asked by a reporter "why didn't you go to Vietnam instead of getting FIVE deferments".
His reply was "I had better things to do". You damned hypocrites, you damned stupid dumb hypocrites.

Hey Anonymous dope, the line from Aliens that he attributed to Ripley is correct, and Cpl Hicks did paraphrase it a few moments later.

Perhaps we should call you Mr Dumass instead of Anonymous.

To Mr. Chickenhawk: there are no "Majors" in the Coast Guard, that rank is for the Army, Air Force, and Marines. The equivalent rank in the Coast Guard (and Navy) is Lieutenant Commander. For all branches, this rank is pay grade O-4. I suspect you're forging your military credentials, or you would know this.
